What do you mean by Proxy server?

A proxy server is also known as a “proxy” or “application-level gateway”, A proxy server is an intermediary server between the client and the Internet. A proxy server typically prevents an attacker from invading a private network and is one of several tools used to create firewalls. A proxy server is like a bridge between you and the rest of the Internet. Whenever you use your browser to surf the Internet, you will connect directly to the website. The proxy server communicates with the websites on your behalf. All Internet requests go to the proxy server first, then the proxy server evaluates the request and forwards it to the Internet. Both Proxy and VPN connect you to the Internet through an intermediary server, Proxy and VPN have these two similarities. While the proxy moves your traffic to its destination, the VPN encrypts all traffic between your device and the VPN server.

Purpose of Proxy Servers

The following reasons are given below to use a proxy server

  • Security
  • Accessing services anonymously
  • Translation
  • Improving performance
  • Monitoring and Filtering

Types of proxy servers

  • Transparent proxies
  • Anonymous proxies
  • High anonymity proxies

Transparent proxies

You do not get any privacy or security with Transparent Proxy. When you use Transparent Proxy, web servers get your real IP address. This is the reason that many people use transparent proxies for content filtering or caching purposes instead of the security reason, usually corporate or school network transparent proxies are likely to be a transparent proxy.

Anonymous proxies

In Anonymous proxies, it does not pass your actual IP address to the website and servers you are using. The website gets a fake IP address instead of your actual IP address. However, like a transparent proxy, the anonymous proxy does not hide that you are using a proxy. If some sites choose to deny service to proxy users, you may not be able to see them when using anonymous proxies. There is nothing bad in using anonymous proxies, it keeps your IP address hide, it is good for your privacy but anonymous proxies will not get as much protection as VPN protection gives you. VPN not only hides your IP address But Anonymous proxies also protect your traffic from encryption from being snoopers.

High anonymity proxies

High anonymity proxies are also called elite proxies. Fundamentals of high anonymity proxies are similar to anonymous proxies, but it is one step ahead of anonymous proxies, except for high anonymity proxies, to hide your use of proxies as well. If you are using a high anonymity proxy, a website will not be able to detect that you are using a proxy. In high anonymity proxies, it provides new IP addresses and does not even let the website know that you are using a proxy server. It is the most secure type of proxy among all the proxies.
